As the summer holidays end and activities ramp up for the winter ahead, the ILCA fleet at Royal Cork also gets pretty busy. Coaching returns to Saturdays at 10am. Contact ILCA captain, Eddie Kingston at rcyclasers@gmail.com for more info. Club racing continues also on Wednesday evenings, FG at 18h.
The events also ramp up quickly. September 8th sees the fourth round of the ILCA summer series. Last year, we had a very indian summer day with scalding temps in the twenties, plenty of swimming, but unfortunately no wind. We are looking for more action this year. Current standings are here for the series.
The sprint series finale is scheduled for September 22nd which will have an adjusted points system (50% of score added) to finalize the overall table and award the series prizes. However, the races on the day also account for an event with prizes awarded for the day’s racing.
So, still plenty of time to enter Iniscarra or RCYC event at 30 euro each.
On the 28th/29th September, we have an end of season event in Malahide. It is a great event to end a busy season that began in Baltimore at the end of March. You can enter following the link here: https://ilcaireland.com/event/ilca-end-of-season-malahide-yacht-club/
As part of our winter coaching plans, we will also have a strength and conditioning session at Crosshaven RFC from 5-6pm on Sept 24th facilitated by ISA’s S&C coach. She will instruct sailors on the optimum routines and post session recovery.
Happy sailing.
