After years of alternating between being in and out of the spotlight, Adele‘s past few years have been filled with meet and greets with fans and live performances. Her Las Vegas residency, Weekends With Adele, for example, had fans from all over the world flocking to see her in concert since the end of 2022. But while this phase in her life was beyond gratifying, the singer’s getting ready to take a major break.
“I’ve really enjoyed performing … it’s been three years now, which is the longest I’ve done and probably the longest I’ll ever do,” she told fans during the final night of her Munich residency, per Entertainment Weekly. “But I have 10 shows left after this, back in my [Las Vegas] residency … but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time and I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break.”
According to the “Rolling in the Deep” powerhouse, her residency for the past two years has been an incredible experience. “I will fantasize about these shows and any shows that I’ve done over the last three years, and I’ll really, really hold them in the bottom of my heart forever,” she said. “It has been amazing.”
As for why she chose to take some time off, Adele admitted she needs “a rest.”
Plus, she wants to live her life without so many commitments lined up. “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now,” she told the audience. “I want to live my life that I’ve been building and I will miss you terribly.”
In July, Adele already hinted at a hiatus in an interview with German broadcaster ZDF. “I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,” she said. “I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
Music aside, Adele has plenty of things to turn her focus on. In addition to her 11-year-old son Angelo, Adele recently confirmed she’s engaged to her longtime partner Rich Paul.
“I can’t marry you, I’m already getting married,” Adele told a fan at a concert in Munich in August, per People.
Prior to that, Adele referred to Paul as her husband onstage almost a year ago now. “You can’t marry me,” the Grammy winner said during a Vegas performance. “I’m straight, my love, and my husband’s here tonight.”
Now that a break is on the way, chances are Adele will be walking down the aisle, going back to full mom mode and enjoying a newly married life like she deserves!
