Georgina Rodriguez is braiding some of 2024’s biggest footwear trends while in Venice. Attending the Venice International Film Festival, the model and girlfriend to famous soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, stepped out in a black dress and a barely-there mule shoe earlier today.
Having arrived in Venice yesterday, Rodriguez appeared at Hotel Excelsior in an asymmetrical black dress. Cut high on the thigh, the piece is an off the shoulder design. Rodriguez pulled her hair back and wore oversized embellished flower earrings and a gold bracelet, also featuring a flower.
For her shoes, she reportedly wore a pair of Gianvito Rossi “Elle” mule heels. The footwear features an open toe silhouette, allowing Rodriguez’s toes to peek through. But most of the foot was visible: as a mule, the entire back of the foot and most of the middle of the foot is uncovered. For the front, though it is technically covered in thermoplastic polyurethane, that plastic like material is sheer so that the entire foot is able to be seen.
Gianvito Rossi sells the Elle mule for $795.
The shoe combines two of the hottest trends this year. Mules have been a popular silhouette for 2024. The mule has been trending for a while now, likely starting with the Gucci Princetown mule introduced by Alessandro Michele in 2015. That shoe (both with and without fur) has remained an “it” shoe for some time with Lucy Hale sliding on a pair earlier this summer. But this year, mules with a heel have been picking up steam.
A few days ago, Nicole Kidman turned up to the “Babygirl” photocall in Venice wearing a pair of chunky white Bottega Veneta Cha Cha mules. She had previously worn a slick pair of Paris Texas nude mules to the “A Family Affair” world premiere in June. In May, the likes of Bella Thorne and Bella Hadid wore mules to the Cannes Film Festival.
But in addition, Rodriguez incorporated the sheer trend. The sheer trend, either via fabrications that include mesh, translucence, or PVC, has also been long lasting seen recently in looks like Taylor Russell’s custom Gianvito Rossi stilettos at Venice Film Festival.
