Yves Bissouma’s strike against Everton has been shortlisted for the Goal of the Month award by BBC Match of The Day.
Bissouma is not known for his shooting but he showed last month that he does have a sweet strike on him, unleashing a fearsome hit from the edge of the box which thundered into the back of the net off the crossbar, leaving Jordan Pickford with no chance.
The goal came at the end of a lovely move by Spurs, involving some nice interplay down the right between the likes of Brennan Johnson and Pedro Porro, with Dejan Kulusevski jinking past a couple of Everton defenders in the box to lay it on for Bissouma.
It was the Mali international’s first goal for Tottenham, and he could not have asked for a better occasion to score it, with the 27-year-old returning from a one-match suspension after a well-publicised transgression.

Bissouma is up against the likes of Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, Diogo Jota, and Luiz Diaz.

There are some lovely goals in that list but Bissouma’s was undoubtedly one of the best ones, not just because of the sweetness of the strike but also because of the inventive play that led up to the goal.
Fingers crossed he manages to win the award!
