Razorbacks Drop to 2nd at Carmel Cup After Rd2
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Only nine golfers shot par or better in round two of the Carmel Cup, played at historic Pebble Beach Golf Links, including Razorback Kendall Todd’s even-par round of 72. Arkansas dropped to second and is four strokes back after 36 holes.
Mississippi State led the field with a 9-over-par round of 369 and has a two-day total of 732 (+12) to switch places with the Razorbacks on the leaderboard. Arkansas recorded a second-round total of 375 (+15) and has a 36-hole score of 736 (+15). Fellow SEC teams Vanderbilt (+18) and Texas A&M (+19) round out the top four in the eight-team field.
Todd, who reached the semifinals of the US Women’s Amateur earlier this month, moved up three spots into a tie for third with her even-par round. She had pars on the first nine holes but dropped shots on the 10th and 15th holes. However, she closed with birdies on 17 and 18 to shoot 72. Overall, she sits at 2-under (70-72=140)/
Maria Jose Marin posted a 75 on Saturday and remained in the top 10, sitting sixth with a 36-hole score of 1-under (68-75=143).
Freshman Clarisa Temelo climbed eight spots into a tie for 14th with her 1-over round of 73. She carded 16 pars with bogeys on holes 2 and 18 and a birdie on the par-4, 10th. Fellow freshman Anna Kate Nichols fell to 23rd (72-79=153 / +7) after shooting a 79 on Saturday.
Reagan Zibilski is tied for 27th (78-75=153 / +9) and Giovanna Fernandez is tied for 42nd (82=77=159 / +15)
The third and final round is set for Sunday.
