Experienced Bangladesh batter Litton Das scored an incredible century which helped the visitors to recover after being put in a precarious position at 26/6 earlier in the day. The ton led to a remarkable turnaround that left the second Test in Rawalpindi within either team’s grasp.
The 29-year-old hit 138 runs over the course of a marathon 333 minutes and brought Bangladesh back into the match with a fighting 165-run seventh-wicket stand alongside Mehidy Hasan Miraz who also played a brilliant supporting knock of 78.
After Bangladesh got bowled out for 262, it was again Pakistan’s turn to bat and their main objective was to make the small 12-run lead into a gigantic total for the visitors to achieve in the final innings. However, it was Bangladesh who would end the day on a high as they restricted the hosts to 9/2 after 3.4 overs.
Pakistan will need to bat really smartly to clinch a series-levelling win after losing the first Test, also in Rawalpindi, by 10 wickets.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the humongous stand between Litton and Mehidy which rescued Bangladesh from an incredibly tough situation.
