New Delhi: Bangladesh’s star wicket-keeper batter Litton Das smashed a counter-attacking century against Pakistan, he might have played one of his career’s best Test knocks. When the team was suffering from a batting collapse and was at 26/6 in 12 overs, Litton Das helped his team bounce back into the game. He smashed a brilliant century scoring 138 runs off 228 balls and reduced the pressure during the first innings.
The partnership between Litton and Hasan Mahmood helped him score a hundred and he also stitched another partnership with Mehidy Jasan Miraz when the team was struggling during the first innings, as they were looking like it could be the worst ever team innings in the Test format. Both batters built a vital partnership of 165 runs in 40 overs and helped the team bounce back.
According to Litton’s Stats, this was his fourth Test hundred and first in Pakistan. Especially at the time when the team needed him the most. Litton held the innings from one end with Mehidy as Pakistan fast bowler Khurram Shehzad was a huge threat in the first session of the day. While surviving him, the Bangladesh batters eventually began scoring runs. Although the Pakistani bowlers did lose their touch on a batting pitch, Litton and Mehidy made significant contributions by hitting boundaries.
After Mehidy lost his wicket at 78, Litton continued to bat with the tailenders and reduced Bangladesh’s deficit. Litton was on 113 when Bangladesh’s score read 227/8 in 68.3 overs. This brought Pakistan’s lead down to under 50 runs, a significant achievement considering their earlier dominance.
However, Litton’s bravado came to an end after scoring 138 off 228 to help Bangladesh post a respectable total of 262 runs, giving a good lead of 12 runs to Pakistan.
