“Hmm, let’s see here”, Rylee said, as she scrolled through her list.
Many of her reasons focused on the health issues that can come with having children, such as “giving birth could kill me”, “post-partum depression“, and “morning sickness”.
Rylee’s list also included a number of reasons concerning what the child might turn out like when they’re older.
“They could turn out to be racist”, “they could be serial killers”, “they could be allergic to animals”.
And a number of reasons about children’s behaviour, such as “they eat crayons”, “they eat glue sticks”, “screaming on planes”.
Many of Rylee’s answers appeared to be completely non-sensical.
“They pee on you on purpose when they’re mad”, “they don’t have kneecaps until they’re 10”, “they could just murder me in their sleep“.
The UK birth rate has been falling for the last decade, and in 2022, the average birth rate in England and Wales was 1.49 children per woman.
This is down from 1.55 children per woman in 2021.
The most common reasons for people not wanting to have kids in the UK is the increased cost of living, not wanting to change their lifestyle and believing that the world is too over-populated.
Rylee’s (its.mee.rylee) video has likely left many people open-mouthed, as it has racked up over 3.8 million views.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.
The birth rate in the UK has been declining over the last decade, and there are a number of reasons why people are deciding not to have kids.
One of the main reasons for this is the rising cost of living.
Housing prices, have skyrocketed, making it increasingly difficult for young people to afford homes that can accommodate families.
The cost of childcare has also soared, leading many people to believe that they cannot afford to raise children.
Another common reason that people don’t want to have children is that they don’t want to make changes to their lifestyle.
Many people are choosing to prioritise travelling and their careers instead.
Others are also choosing not to have kids due to environmental concerns.
One person said: “I have three kids and I also don’t want kids.”
A second person said: “As a parent. I support this list.”
A third person said: “Every reason is valid.”
A fourth added: “Facts after facts.”
A fifth said: “This list is so funny .. it gets me every time.”
