US State Department says it does not support armed conflict in Afghanistan

The U.S. State Department has stated its non-support for armed conflicts in Afghanistan.

A spokesperson for the department told Fox News that Afghanistan has been in conflict for 44 years, and the U.S. does not wish to see a return to violence in the country.

The statement underscores a call for peace and stability in the region, emphasizing that Afghans also do not desire continued warfare.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in the United States declared support for the National Resistance Front’s fight against the Taliban.

Michael McCaul announced plans to meet with Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front, in the near future.

Despite numerous global crises and the contentious upcoming U.S. presidential elections, Fox News reported that the U.S. government appears reluctant to engage in discussions about Afghanistan’s situation three years after its withdrawal.

Fox News also noted that resistance against the Taliban continues to be overlooked by the U.S. and the West.

Fatemeh Aman, a senior researcher at the Middle East Institute, told Fox News Digital that the National Resistance Front remains the most significant anti-Taliban group in Afghanistan.

However, Aman added that currently, there seems to be no viable alternative to replace the Taliban government without a major uprising and extensive international support.

The Freedom Front and the National Resistance Front are two military and political entities formed after the Taliban’s return, engaging in armed attacks against them in various parts of Afghanistan over the past three years.

According to a United Nations Security Council report, the Taliban have allowed terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda to find refuge in Afghanistan despite their commitments. The report highlights that Al-Qaeda has re-established bases in multiple Afghan provinces. However, the Taliban deny the presence of Al-Qaeda in the country.
