The odds between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko may be even now, but that was far from the case last year.
Back in March 2023, Grasso entered UFC 285 as one of the biggest underdogs in UFC history, and rightfully so. Up to that moment, Shevchenko was unbeaten at 125 pounds and had eight consecutive UFC title wins. Yet, despite the odds, Grasso submitted Shevchenko in shocking fashion to become the first Mexican woman to win a UFC title.
You can watch Grasso’s monumental win in the video above.
Grasso (16-3-1 MMA, 8-3-1 UFC) and Shevchenko (23-4-1 MMA, 12-3-1 UFC) are set to meet a third time after fighting to a draw in September 2023. Their women’s flyweight bout serves as the co-main event of UFC 306, which is set to go down on Sept. 14 at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
