Theo Walcott believes that Dominic Solanke could win the Premier League Golden Boot in his first season at Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs’ signing of Solanke has garnered a mixed response from the media, with some pundits quite liking the transfer while others have suggested that the Lilywhites have overpaid for the Englishman (Sky Sports).
The 26-year-old looked lively in his Tottenham debut against Leicester City but he could not open his account in that game despite getting some big chances to do so.
The centre-forward missed the clash against Everton with an ankle injury and is now in a race against time to be fit for Spurs’ trip to St James Park.
Solanke will be keen to get up and running as soon as possible as he will be aware that he will be subject to an increasing amount of scrutiny from the media the longer he goes without a goal.
Walcott believes that the Tottenham man will have no issues finding the back of the net with regularity, backing him to finish as the league’s top scorer.
When asked for his wildest take on Sky Sports’ How Long Ref? segment, the former Arsenal man responded: “Solanke, now at Tottenham, might well be the top goalscorer.”

Cynics will suggest that Walcott is trying to slyly turn up the pressure on Tottenham’s record signing.
However, it actually is not a bad shout if Solanke does start most games for Spurs this season, considering the amount of chances that Postecoglou’s men create per game.
