The Boston Celtics have plenty of nickname guys.
Kristaps Porzingis is known as "The Unicorn." Jayson Tatum has been known to go by "Big Deuce." Al Horford hasn't been called anything but "Big Al" in like a decade. Payton Pritchard has more than you'd expect (Fast PP, 8 Mile, P-Rabbit) out of a role player.
Jaylen Brown? He just goes by his initials.
"JB" isn't necessarily bad. It is boring, though, which might be why he floated a potential new nickname Saturday, superimposing his face on a poster from "Aquaman."
Why?
Brown has spent the last couple offseasons doing workouts in pools. It's his thing, we guess, so you can't blame him for trying to get a new nickname off the ground. JB wasn't suitable for an NBA Finals MVP and three-time NBA All-Star, anyway.
The Celtics might want to roll with Aquaman. It isn't a half bad marketing idea.
