Chris Sutton expects the clash between Newcastle and Tottenham to be a highly entertaining affair with plenty of goals, and he expects the Lilywhites to edge out the home side.
The clash between the Magpies and Spurs will kick off Super Sunday, with Ange Postecoglou’s men hoping to send out a statement of intent.
The Australian saw his side suffer a humiliating 4-0 defeat at St James’ Park back in April, with Tottenham being torn apart on the counter-attack by the home side in that game.
However, if there is one thing we know about Postecoglou, it is that he will not opt for a conservative approach and will back his attacking players to hurt Eddie Howe’s men.
Tottenham have delivered two superb displays so far this season but they will undoubtedly have to be at their best to turn over Newcastle at home.
Sutton believes that the game will turn into a straight shootout and he backed the North London club to outscore their opponents.
The former Celtic man told BBC Sport: “Eddie Howe’s team haven’t quite clicked. I don’t think it’s a really settled Eddie Howe because he hasn’t got the players in so far which I think he would’ve wanted.
“I thought Spurs were excellent against Everton. I think there will be goals in this game, there can’t not be. But this will be toe-to-toe, this will be like a basketball match. I’m going to back Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs.”
Prediction: Newcastle 2-3 Tottenham

In order to consistently win difficult away games in the Premier League, teams need to have an element of defensive control, which Tottenham lacked for much of last season.
This game will thus serve as a big test of Postecoglou’s methods as we cannot afford to keep giving chances away against a side like Newcastle, given the firepower they have up front.
