Traditional pastelli will be having its own festival on Sunday in Anogyra, so those with a sweet tooth can make their way there and get a hands-on taste of the island’s rich cultural heritage and join in games and crafts.
Anogyra is about 45 km from the city of Limassol and is nestled among carob trees, almond trees and vines.
Pastelli is made of sesame seeds and sugar or honey, pressed into a bar or ball.
Anogyra has a long tradition in making the confection and this is the 33rd year it is organising the festival.
Visitors can taste various sweets, watch pastelli being made and purchase traditional goodies to take home. Sturdy teeth recommended.
Traditional music and dancing will add to the atmosphere.
