BROOKLYN, NY. (PIX11) -- At least two people were injured in a small explosion at an apartment building in Brooklyn on Friday, FDNY officials said.
Firefighters were called to 514 Rockaway Parkway, between Linden Boulevard and Church Avenue in Brooklyn, around 12:40 p.m. The FDNY responded to reports of a small explosion and smoke in the basement, officials said.
Two people were taken to a hospital in unknown conditions, fire officials said.
The incident happened just over 2 miles from the scene of a different house explosion in Brooklyn. Multiple families in the East Flatbush area have been displaced following the explosion at 790 East 37th St. Thursday night.
The Department of Buildings issued a full vacate order for homes surrounding the building due to structural damage from the explosion. DOB inspectors also discovered an illegal apartment inside a neighboring home, officials said.
