From beloved Saratoga greeter, Ruth, turning 91 to longtime racing fan, Edward 'Rusty' Skeals, turning 92 with a race named in his honor, there were plenty of opportunities to celebrate this meet. To mark the 155th running of the Travers Stakes, we showcased the many traditions associated with the highlight of the Saratoga Summer Meet.
Outside the track, we explored the new and buzzy spots in town. From Mittler's Market to Mangiamo, we served up the stories behind these neighborhood hotspots. We didn't even have to go Off the Beaten Path, to go hunting for hidden horseshoes on Beekman Street.
From introducing you to the artist behind the colorful lawn jockeys located outside the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame to catching up with the Saratoga Jockey Paint on Travers Day, as she repainted the jockey silks to reflect the winner of this year’s big race, Fierceness.
On Military Appreciation Day, we remembered the New York Army National Guard Members who gave their lives in service of their country. At the heart of it, the 20-24 Saratoga Summer Meet was all about family.
