'A wonderful disaster': Critics react with glee to J.D. Vance's latest CNN interview
Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) on Friday went on CNN to do an interview that was marred by apparent technical glitches and also multiple evasive answers on Vance's part when it comes to former President Donald Trump's views on abortion.
Critics of the Ohio senator and Republican vice-presidential nominee eagerly pounced on what they claimed was a train wreck interview.
"JD Vance just absolutely BOMBED in his CNN live interview," gloated Democratic operative Scott Dworkin. "That was one of the worst interviews I have ever seen. Vance even acted like he couldn't hear John Berman when pressed on Trump's fake abortion support. What a wonderful disaster."
Former Trump campaign aide A.J. Delgado accused Vance of faking an earpiece malfunction that left him temporarily unable to hear questions from CNN host John Berman.
"This is me, when the student loan people call, and I didn't look at the caller ID," she joked. "I'm an equally bad actress, J.D. Vance. It's OK."

The anti-Trump Lincoln Project, meanwhile, made a joke about Vance's robotic demeanor and said it appeared that "Trump forgot to change out JD's batteries before this interview."
Democratic operative Mike Nellis, meanwhile, zeroed in on Vance's evasiveness when it comes to Trump's positions on reproductive rights, which seem to change every other day.
"Another rough moment for Vance as he runs into technical difficulties trying to defend Trump's waffling on how he'll vote on the Florida abortion ban," he wrote.
Washington Post columnist Catherine Rampell further fact-checked Vance's dismissal about an Alabama court ruling that threatened in vitro fertilization clinics in the state.
"Vance claimed that after an Alabama court ruling threatened IVF, the state legislature fixed the problem right away," she argued. "But they didn't actually fix the issue. Alabama IVF/fertility clinics are closing due to ongoing legal liability."
