Sunshine, reggae, camping and the sea. That is what is coming up on the third weekend of September as the One Love Festival Cyprus takes place and brings good vibes and reggae music. Ithaki Beach Bar in Moni, Limassol will welcome reggae lovers, artists and campers on September 13-15 for a three-day festival with live acts, workshops and art installations.
“This is more than just a festival,” say organisers, “it’s a celebration of music, art, and community.” Over the course of three days, four different stages will host live reggae music and DJs while campers set up their tents (or park their campervans) under the stars and food stands cook up bites.
Engaging workshops will also be part of the festival’s agenda, from yoga and pilates classes to drumming circles. An art exhibition titled The Story of the Jamaican Soundsystem will also be presented at the Dub Shelter space, showcasing art created by Constantinos Pissourios whose artistic name is Versioncos14. The exhibition will focus on Soundsystem, Roots, Reggae, and Dub-related art, paying tribute to various reggae artists, dub engineers and soundmen from Jamaica and abroad.
Other elements of the exhibition will have a more educational motive, the Jamaican Soundsystem poster series for example, as it will trace the evolution of the Jamaican soundsystem from the 60s to the 90s. The festival will welcome five bands to its stages as well as an impressive line-up of 26 DJs and artists. What’s more, there will be a kid’s zone.
For those who do not want to wait until September, or want to get a taste of the festival, One Love is hosting a warm-up party this Saturday at Sto Dromo bar in the heart of old town Limassol.
