Nestled in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, With Others is an intimate natural wine bar, designed by owner Shanna Nasiri in collaboration with the San Francisco-based art and design collective, Studio Ahead. This neighborhood gem draws inspiration from the serene elegance of Japandi design, blending the minimalist aesthetics of Japanese and Scandinavian influences. The result is a tranquil retreat of soft textures, neutral tones, and raw materials that offer a stark yet soothing contrast to the vibrant energy of New York City.
Studio Ahead enlisted the talents of local artists and artisans to bring this vision to life. The custom metal-mesh shelving, crafted by Wombat, interacts thoughtfully with the negative space, mirroring the precise grid of the bar’s tile and flooring—an homage to Superstudio’s use of grids as both form and concept. The space seamlessly integrates these hard surfaces with the gentle warmth often associated with both wine culture and Japandi design. Other contributors include Frits Hansen, whose Georg stools complement the space, Ido Yoshimoto’s wooden vessels that add a touch of organic craftsmanship, and John Gnorski’s paper lantern sconces, which provide a soft, ambient glow.
With Others also stands out for its carefully curated selection of natural wines, focusing on small-batch, organic, and biodynamic producers, particularly female winemakers. Inspired by the concept of “third places”—social environments outside the home and workplace—Nasiri has created a welcoming space where guests are encouraged to linger over a rotating selection of wines and seasonal small bites crafted by Chef Jay Wolman, formerly of Diner and Marlow & Sons. The wine bar also regularly hosts lively pop-ups, collaborating with local chefs and winemakers to foster a community of like-minded individuals.
With Others is open Wednesday through Friday from 5 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 PM.
