Poiblanc Viehl Residence is a minimal home located in Soho, New York, designed by Uli Wagner. The design team focused on creating a peaceful environment that prioritizes functionality while maintaining aesthetic appeal. The renovation involved reconfiguring the two-bedroom loft to accommodate a nursery, which required a complete rethink of the living space. Uli Wagner and his team approached the project with the couple’s lifestyle and design sensibilities in mind, ensuring that the renovation enhanced the flow and cohesion of the apartment. The entryway was redesigned to provide ample storage, offering a more refined introduction to the loft’s main living area. In the kitchen, UWDL embraced minimalism by concealing appliances and adding a larger island, enhancing both storage and functionality.
A floating wall shelf wrapped in marble serves as a subtle display for the couple’s cherished objects, blending seamlessly with the overall aesthetic. Privacy was achieved by installing frameless doors at the entrances to the bedrooms and powder room, allowing the central living area to remain open for family gatherings and entertaining. Behind one of these doors, the main suite was reimagined to include a bedroom, dressing area, and bathroom, with careful consideration given to the couple’s morning routine. Custom millwork, oak facades, and matching oak ceilings elevate the design, offering practical storage solutions that reflect the couple’s refined taste. The expansive main bathroom features large-format ceramic tiles that evoke the natural look of sandstone, while built-in storage accommodates towels and toiletries. A new shower enclosure, complete with a built-in bench, complements the existing bathtub, adding to the room’s sense of calm and simplicity.
