Latest Forecast Update from Meteorologist Rob Lindenmuth:
A much different afternoon is expected today with sky cover highly dependent upon where you find yourself today. The further north you are, the more sunshine you will likely see, on the other hand, the further south you are, the more clouds there will be. Albany and the Mohawk Valley are right on the line, so expecting partly sunny skies to develop through the afternoon. One thing will be common though, temperatures will be more comfortable with highs expected to reach the mid to upper 70s with much less humidity!
Much of the same weather is expected for Friday, with maybe a degree or two warmer for many. We are watching a storm system for the start of the holiday weekend. This will first pull up more humidity into the northeast and eventually will bring the chance for showers and storms by Saturday afternoon and evening.
Today we are expecting a seasonable feeling day with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s with low levels of humidity. Clouds will be variable dependent upon where you are, more sunshine to the north with more clouds expected to the south. However, even where it ends up mostly cloudy, there will be some breaks of sunshine through late afternoon and evening.
Clouds will linger into Tonight and Friday morning. This will keep temperatures from free falling, however, it will still end up being another cool comfortable night with many in the upper 50s to near 60.
Clouds sticking around through the afternoon on Friday with breaks of sunshine expected along with a developing southerly wind. This will help to boost temperatures into the mid to upper 70s for the afternoon, still feeling comfortable too!
Higher humidity will stream into the region for the weekend with the threat for scattered showers and storms by Saturday afternoon and evening. Some of these storms could be on the stronger side with small hail and gusty winds, the Storm Prediction Center has placed the area under a Marginal (1/5) risk for severe weather, most of the storms will not reach severe levels.
We will be briefly warmer for Sunday with some sunshine and the threat for a stray shower. A strong, but moisture starved cold front will be moving through by Sunday evening. This will bring a sharp drop in humidity, and temperatures will also be holding in the low to mid 70s for Labor Day. It will also turn breezy as a large area of high pressure builds into the Northeast. High pressure sticks around through the middle of the week with cool, comfortable nights and warm, but very comfortable days! Enjoy and have a great day! -Rob
