A man was fatally shot early Thursday in the Oakland neighborhood on the South Side.
About 12:45 a.m., officers responded to the University of Chicago Medical Center and found a 21-year-old man who'd been dropped off there suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in 4000 block of South Lake Park Avenue, Chicago police said.
The man was shot in the chest and shoulder and died a short time later, police said. His name was not released.
Vehicles near where the shooting happened were damaged by gunfire, officials said.
Witnesses to the attack declined to tell police what happened and no one was in custody.
Area One detectives are investigating.
