An old video of former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital principal Sandip Ghosh’s alleged “enforcer” has gone viral on social media platforms showing the muscleman flaunting his purported connections to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee when he is questioned about his presence on the campus.
The video, which is reportedly a year old, shows Afsar Ali Khan, an additional security guard, shows him being reprimanded by Manas Bandyopadhyay for being irregular not wearing the assigned uniform. However, Khan nonchalantly brushes away Bandyopadhyay’s queries, telling him to “call CM Didi”, apparently flaunting his high-level connections.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows Manas Kumar Bandyopadhyay, who was the principal of the RG Kar Medical College at the time, asking the “additional security guard” about his exact designation and nature of work.
In reply, Khan shows off his political connections, saying “you can call CM Didi”, claiming that “CM Didi (Mamata Banerjee)” had sent him.
The BJP’s West Bengal unit also shared the clip on their official X handle, claiming that the “guard” seen in the video, identified by RG Kar staff as Afsar Ali Khan, allegedly works for a Trinamool Congress MLA and former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh.

Notably, Ghosh, who stepped down after the August 9 rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at the RG Kar hospital, is under the CBI’s scanner following the incident.
On Wednesday, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Wednesday suspended Ghosh’s membership.
The decision to suspend the IMA membership of Ghosh, who is the vice president of the association’s Kolkata branch, was taken by its disciplinary committee.
In an order, the Indian Medical Association said the committee constituted by IMA national president Dr R V Asokan on Wednesday suo-motu considered the rape and murder case of the postgraduate resident doctor and the subsequent developments at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
