Everton could yet be tested by one of the giants of the Premier League for an attacker before the window slams shut as he is on their list, according to Sky Sports News.
The Toffees are trying to strengthen before the transfer window closes and want Orel Mangala to arrive from Lyon on an initial loan.
Sean Dyche may have to deal with unexpected approaches for players already at the club though before Friday night.
Chelsea are on the hunt for a new striker and have been looking at Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
However, Everton talisman Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another striker on Chelsea’s shortlist of targets and they could turn to him.
The English striker has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer and he is currently in his final year of his contract at the Toffees.
Chelsea admire what he can bring to the attacking mix and could move to try to sign him if they cannot get other options.
If Chelsea do move to sign Calvert-Lewin, all eyes will be on who Everton turn to in order to replace him, with time an ever decreasing commodity in the transfer window.
Everton were linked with Brazilian striker Vitor Roque regarding a potential move but he joined La Liga side Real Betis.
