TOPEKA (KSNT) - A brand new beer made with locally grown barley is now on tap in Topeka.
Blind Tiger Brewery is now offering the Shawnee County Golden Ale in partnership with Roger and Jason Hamm, fourth and fifth generation Shawnee County farmers, respectively.
Roger and Jason told 27 News they've been working on the barley strain for nearly eight years and are excited people can finally try the beer.
"I was pretty stoked all day about it," Jason said. "This is a long time coming and it's nice to see some of that work come into something that people are proud of."
Jay Ives, the owner of Blind Tiger, said in a press release he's always looking for ways to partner locally.
"This relationship, resulting in such a great beer," Ives said, "is a big step in that direction. Quality is number one in our brewery and this barley-malt, and the beer that has resulted from it are right there."
