ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- An Albany man was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for illegally possessing a pistol as a convicted felon. Alexander Wilson, 31, pleaded guilty to the charge in December 2023.
In December, Wilson admitted to discarding a loaded pistol from a vehicle during a police chase on Interstate 90 on March 16, 2023. At that time, he faced up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, for illegally possessing a gun with two prior felony convictions.
At sentencing, he was issued a three-year term of post-release supervision, to begin after Wilson is released from prison. He was also ordered to forfeit any firearms.
The case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service and New York State Police. New York State Police Superintendent Steven James announced the sentencing, alongside United States Attorney Carla Freedman and United States Marshal David McNulty.
