PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Numerous animals were rescued from a house in Southeast Portland Tuesday after neighbors reported hazardous conditions inside the home for months.
According to Portland police, they were joined by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Strategic Prosecution Unit, Multnomah County Animal Services and the Oregon Humane Society, to serve a warrant on the home near Southeast 86th Avenue and Southeast Tolman Street.
Neighbors had reported several malnourished animals in the home and upon executing the warrant, officials said they recovered 13 dogs and two cats who were neglected and living in unsanitary conditions, with many dogs stacked in cages.
The animals were taken from the home to the Oregon Humane Society for evaluation.
The animal's owner arrived home while officials were on the scene and police said that they cooperated with the investigation and animal neglect charges are pending.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Portland police.
