Ahead of his Sept. 5 NFL season kick-off with the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce has entered another fast-paced sporting event — horse racing.
The three-time Super Bowl champ has invested in a racehorse that, to no one’s surprise, shares the same name as his superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Team Valor International announced Tuesday that Kelce and the Zoldan family recently agreed to purchase a significant stake in Swift Delivery, a 3-year-old gelding who won an allowance race on July 19 at the Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.
The thoroughbred is set to make his stakes debut at the Toronto Cup at Woodbine on Aug. 31.
The level to which Swift and the horse sharing a name played a part in the tight end’s involvement remains to be clarified. Financial details on the purchase were not disclosed.
Kelce was reportedly spotted at the Kentucky Derby in May with the Zoldan family, who has a long history in horse racing. The wealthy brood, spearheaded by Jewish fireworks entrepreneur Bruce Zoldan, also has ownership stake in 2011 Derby winner Animal Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Kelce and the 14-time Grammy winner have been romantically linked for roughly a year, with her often attending his games and he appearing both in the audience and on the stage at her sell-out concerts.
Entering his 12th season in the NFL, Kelce signed a new two-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in April, valued at $17 million per year. He’s now the highest-paid tight end in NFL history.
The Swift Delivery news came the same day that Amazon podcast studio Wondery announced a three-year deal with “New Heights,” the podcast Kelce hosts with brother Jason, worth a reported $100 million.
