Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall has earned a recall to the Swedish national side after an impressive start to life at the North London club.
There was plenty of excitement at Spurs prior to Bergvall’s arrival this summer, given how the 18-year-old was dominating the Allsvenskan week-in, week-out for Djurgarden.
Most Tottenham fans would have expected the youngster to have a steep learning curve when he arrived and to mostly watch on from the bench for the first six months.
However, from the second he set foot onto the pitch in pre-season, the teenager has looked the part, looking unfazed by the step-up, and exuding the sort of confidence that suggests that he belongs at the highest level.
Bergvall has come on as a substitute in both of Tottenham’s Premier League matches so far this season, delivering two impressive cameos against Leicester City and Everton.
The midfielder has now been called up to the Sweden squad for their upcoming Nations League clashes against Azerbaijan and Estonia, alongside Spurs teammate Dejan Kulusevski.
This is just the youngster’s second call-up to the senior side, having won his first cap against Estonia in a friendly back in January of this year.

Bergvall will be hoping to get an opportunity to impress in these two matches and one would expect him to grab the chance with both hands, with the midfielder likely to be a key part of the Swedish set-up over the next decade and a half.
Hopefully, we can say the same about his influence for Spurs too!
