Manchester United have had a good summer transfer window and could make a couple of more signings before the deadline on Friday evening.
The Red Devils have recruited Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. Manuel Ugarte is likely to join from Paris Saint-Germain in the next 24 hours.
The club are also interested in a swap deal involving Raheem Sterling and Jadon Sancho. Sporting director Dan Ashworth has contacted Chelsea.
United are also focused on outgoings to balance their books.
The club have agreed to sell Scott McTominay and Hannibal Mejbri, and journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Lazio are eyeing a late deal for centre-back Victor Lindelof.
The Serie A outfit have identified the Swede as the top target to bolster their backline.
The 30-year-old had an injury-plagued 2023/24 season with the Red Devils. He made 28 appearances but was also sidelined with groin and hamstring injuries.
Lindelof returned in time for the FA Cup final, but the centre-back has picked up a fresh toe injury. Manager Erik ten Hag confirmed the setback before the Brighton & Hove Albion game.
The Dutchman was optimistic that Lindelof could return soon. United may consider his sale before the transfer window closes on August 30.
Lindelof has entered the final year of his contract with the Red Devils. The club have not offered him an extension and he can sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January.
United may prefer to recoup some funds instead. The hierarchy could contemplate parting ways with the former Benfica man if Lazio were to make a reasonable transfer offer.
