NATIVE Hondurans don’t just rely on their genetics for enviably thick and healthy tresses, revealed an expert.
Dr. Matee Rajput shared a little-known oil among the best ingredients for stimulating hair growth.
Dr. Rajput is a hair transplant surgeon and the surgical director of KSL Clinic, which has locations in Kent and Manchester, England.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, he shared a variety of ingredients for longer locks.
Batana oil is derived from the nuts of the Elaeis oleifera tree, commonly known as the American palm tree.
Dr. Rajput said it’s widely considered beneficial for growth and overall hair health.
“Batana oil is traditionally used by the indigenous Miskito people of Honduras,” he said.
“They are often referred to as the ‘People of Beautiful Hair’ due to their thick, healthy hair attributed to batana oil.
“Batana oil is rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins, particularly vitamin E.”
Scientific findings and a “wealth of anecdotal” evidence support the use of rosemary oil in haircare routines.
The ingredient can stimulate growth, improve scalp health, and strengthen tresses.
“Rosemary oil has been shown to improve circulation when applied to the scalp, which can help stimulate hair follicles and encourage new hair growth,” Dr. Rajput said.
Rosemary oil is often diluted with a carrier oil such as castor oil before topical application.
“Castor oil is rich in ricinolein acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties that can support scalp health and promote hair growth,” he said.
Dr. Rajput revealed it isn’t just natural oils that can be bought over the counter to promote growth and nourish the scalp.
He raved about Rogaine which is a brand of the hair regrowth treatment minoxidil.
“Minoxidil is a topical treatment that increases blood flow to the hair follicles, which can stimulate growth,” he said.
“It’s FDA-approved for hair loss and is available in both 2% and 5% strengths.”
A variety of dietary supplements can help support healthy hair growth.
Among them is biotin (vitamin B7) which aids keratin production, a key protein in hair structure.
“Although biotin deficiency is rare, supplements are commonly used to support hair health,” Dr. Rajput said.
These products, combined with a healthy lifestyle and proper hair care practices, can support hair growth and help combat thinning.

“Nutrafol is a supplement that contains a blend of vitamins, minerals, and botanical extracts like ashwagandha, saw palmetto, and collagen, which are designed to address the root causes of hair thinning.
“Viviscal is a supplement that contains Amino Mar C, a marine complex rich in protein and nutrients that are essential for hair growth, along with biotin, vitamin C, and iron.”
Collagen supplements may also be beneficial for strengthening hair, improving elasticity, and reducing breakage.
The protein can also promote scalp health by increasing blood circulation.
