In today’s episode of Solving Problems That Don’t Exist The Republican Way, Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, is reminding us that the delulu fruit doesn’t fall far from the alternative facts tree by making an appearance on the network where journalism goes to die a torturous death, Fox News, so she can boast that her army of poll watchers are going to stop “illegal citizens” from voting despite the fact that there continues to be zero evidence that undocumented migrants are doing so.

“We have gone above and beyond anything that you’ve ever seen from the RNC. This election cycle, obviously, we have our election integrity operation underway. We’ve already recruited 165,000 volunteers to be poll watchers,” Trump told Fox anchor Maria Bartiromo.
“Poll workers work in the tabulation centers. We have pledged 500 lawyers on the ground in every battleground state. And in addition to that, we have had to go, unfortunately. But we have had to go state by state and make sure they’re doing things like cleaning up their voter rolls, making sure that there are no illegals on their voter rolls,” she continued. “So whether you’re talking about ensuring that illegals are clean off the voter rolls, they can’t register to vote in certain states or generally sending out the message, Maria, that if you’re a person who is attempting to cheat in our elections or an illegal citizen attempting to illegally vote in our elections, we will find you, will track you down, and will prosecute you to the full extent of the law. We’re watching everything.”
Back in April, when Trump, who is the Republican National Committee co-chair, announced her plans to deploy more than 100,000 MAGA volunteers to police polling stations that don’t need policing based on 2020 election rigging that never happened, she also pledged then that “if we catch you cheating, and we’re looking for you out there to cheat, we will prosecute you to the full extent of the law.” She said to Newsmax host Eric Boling, “Eric, we all know 2020 was not all on the up and up people had a lot of unanswered questions,” when, in truth, the former head of election cybersecurity, Donald Trump’s own attorney general, his administration’s own Department of Justice and dozens of judges all agreed that there was no evidence of a rigged election, and the only people who “had a lot of unanswered questions” were MAGA rubes who bought into the MAGA propaganda that Trump and the GOP spread in an intentional effort to sew doubt in the election process. (It’s also worth mentioning that Lara claimed her poll watchers would “physically handle the ballots,” which is very much illegal.)
Every single innuendo and accusation made by the GOP needs to be viewed as broadcasting their intent and treated as fair warning they intend to do the very thing they’re accusing Democrats of doing.

So, now, Lara Trump is taking her father-in-law’s election fraud propaganda and combining it with his ongoing propaganda regarding undocumented migrants, who Trump is telling anyone who will listen are causing a surge in violent crime in America, which crime data indicates is also not a thing that is happening. In fact, back in May, Republican legislators proposed a bill that would make it illegal for non-citizens to vote in U.S. elections—which, of course, is already a crime. Here’s what I wrote about that:
The narrative that millions of people who are in the country illegally are, somehow, finding ways to vote in U.S. elections is nothing new. It’s been a right-wing talking point for at least the last two decades, despite the fact that, once again, the data does not support their white nationalist nonsense.
The Heritage Foundation analyzed illegal election activity in America and found an egregious, alarming, outrageous, out of control and unbelievable—*checks notes*—24 instances of noncitizens voting between 2003 and 2023.
24 instances.
Now, to be fair, there was also a study conducted by the Brennan Center for Justice that found more instances of noncitizens casting votes in one election than the Heritage Foundation found in two decades. Far more instances, in fact.
Well, actually—six more instances. Maybe six. The Brennan Center analyzed 23.5 million votes across 42 jurisdictions in the 2016 general election and found approximately 30 instances of noncitizens casting votes.
Mind you, these are rare instances that get investigated just like any other election crime, and there is zero evidence that the beyond-paltry number of noncitizens who have cast votes in any given election has been significant enough to even remotely impact those elections. So, once again, what are we even doing here?
Last month, I went straight to the lion’s den and reviewed the Heritage Foundation’s own database of proven cases of voter fraud dating back to the 1980s.
They had only documented 10 cases TOTAL where an undocumented immigrant had voted.

Of course, Bartiromo being an anchor on a prestigious institution of journalistic integrity like Fox News, she certainly did what real journalists do and pushed back on Lara’s flagrant fact-dodging and misinformation propagating, right?
Come on, y’all know better than that. All Bartiromo did was cosign all of her guest’s demonstrable lies.
“Unbelievable. I’ll tell you, it’s hard to keep up with all of these political dirty tricks,” Bartiromo said in response to Trump’s nonsense.
Yeah, it should be “unbelievable” since Lara is lying, and the “dirty tricks” should be “hard to keep up with” since they don’t exist outside of the tinfoil hat-covered MAGA imagination.
But, hey, we already knew that if Donald Trump can’t win a free and fair election, he’ll just whine and lie about it not being free and fair, and his daughter-in-law is just helping him plant the seeds of his deceit ahead of November.
Meanwhile, the fine folks on social media noted that Lara’s use of the terminology “illegals” and “illegal citizen” indicates that, like her father, she refuses to acknowledge the humanity of migrants.
