ROKU and Amazon Fire TV Stick fans can have more than 12,000 free shows and movies at their fingertips – all they have to do is download an app.
Pluto TV, one of the oldest free, ad-supported streaming services, has been steadily building its content library over the past few months.
The FAST TV provider added seven new channels in the last week of July alone, bolstering its extensive library of free films and TV series.
And now users can expect two new channels to grace their screens.
The first is CNN Headlines, offering a nonstop feed of live news programs and the most important breaking stories.
The other is the Salem News Channel, home to conservative media pundits like Dennis Prager and Hugh Hewitt.
On top of these offerings, seven new channels became available this month. (A full list is available below.)
The app is home to an expansive selection of live TV, with shows and films from over 200 content partners.
The tens of thousands of titles are available free of charge to Roku and Fire Stick users.
Simply download the Pluto TV app from the Roku Store or the Amazon App Store to begin watching.
The streamer scored a distribution deal with Fremantle for 25 new channels in June.
Pluto TV has come a long way since debuting as a beta website in March 2014.
It expanded through a series of deals – the most notable being a 2015 agreement with Hulu – before Viacom acquired the service in January 2019.
In a second-quarter earnings call later that year, Viacom announced that the platform was being used by 16 million monthly users, up from 12 million at the time of acquisition.
The media conglomerate merged with CBS in December 2019, creating Paramount Global and expanding Pluto TV’s content offerings.
The company revealed that it had reached 80 million active monthly users in its 2023 Q1 earnings call.
With this feat, Pluto TV became the number-one FAST TV provider in the world.
“It’s an amazing service…can’t believe it’s free,” one Reddit user wrote of the streaming service.
“I’m always surprised at how much good stuff is on Pluto. Lots of quality movies,” another Redditor wrote, adding that it was the “only place” they found episodes of the original Twilight Zone.
“The fact that it’s free is incredible considering the quality,” another user marveled.
” It’s not perfect, but it’s a million times better than regular TV was back when that was free.”
Pluto TV has rapidly grown its library from users in the United States and the United Kingdom.
It is slowly expanding into other countries including Germany, Canada, Spain, and Italy.

FOX Weather
A channel dedicated to weather updates, especially during major storms and hurricanes. It provides comprehensive coverage to keep viewers informed and prepared for severe weather conditions.
LiveNOW from FOX
This channel offers a constant stream of breaking news and live events with minimal commentary. It focuses on delivering raw and unfiltered news coverage from across the nation.
Makers
This channel showcases the DIY movement through the work of skilled woodworkers, designers, engineers, farmers, and metalworkers. It highlights innovative projects and techniques from a variety of makers.
Star Trek: The Motion Pictures
A special channel featuring all 13 theatrical Star Trek movies for a limited time. It includes films from the Original Series, Next Generation, and Kelvin timeline, offering a complete Star Trek cinematic experience.
