BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man from West Virginia is facing charges after he allegedly tried to bring an AR-15 across the Peace Bridge in downtown Buffalo, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said.
Police said that on Saturday the 36-year-old man allegedly had the rifle, a handgun and over 300 rounds of ammunition in the trunk of a vehicle.
The car was searched after the man's passenger did not have the required ID to go over the border. Officers determined that the driver unlawfully had the firearms based on prior arrest convictions.
The man, who has not been identified, was turned over to the Buffalo Police Department. He is charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.
