OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - On Monday, EMSA released its latest medical heat-related illness calls, saying over the weekend alone EMSA medics responded to nine (9) heat-related illness calls in the Oklahoma City area and transported five (5) patients to local hospitals.
Since the most recent heat alert went into effect, medics have responded to 34 heat-related illness calls in the Oklahoma City area and transported a total of 19 patients to local hospitals.
The Heat Alert is set to remain in place until Friday (8/30) when temperatures are expected to drop significantly, EMSA officials said.
So far this year, EMSA medics have responded to 324 heat-related illness calls in the OKC area and transported 202 patients to local hospitals.
