CLEVELAND Co., Okla. (KFOR) - Cleveland County Detention Center (CCDC) officials say an inmate has passed away following a suicide attempt on Sunday evening.
According to CCDC at 11:55 p.m., inmate Daniel Edward Freeman, 58, was declared deceased at Norman Regional Healthplex after being found unresponsive inside his cell.
CCDC officials confirm, Freeman was up and about in his cell before lights out at 10:00 p.m., with no issues detected during sight checks. At 11:05 p.m. a sight check on Freeman found him hanging from his bunk and staff immediately began life saving measures. EMS was dispatched and Freeman was transferred to Norman Regional Healthplex where he was pronounced dead.
The CCDC says, a investigation has been opened into the death with OSBI support.
Freeman was booked into CCDC on August 22, following his arrest by the Norman Police Department on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Kidnapping, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Freeman's cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's office.
