Tottenham trio, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Son Heung-min, have all found a place in Troy Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week in his BBC Sport column.
After their disappointing result in their Premier League season opener against Leicester City, Ange Postecoglou would have wanted a response from his side on Saturday and he got just that.
The Lilywhites came flying out of the blocks and dominated proceedings, with Everton struggling to cope with the intensity of the home side’s play.
In contrast to the clash at the King Power Stadium, Tottenham took their chances against the Toffees, putting four past them without any response.
Postecoglou would have been delighted to see his side emerge with a clean sheet, with his centre-back pairing mopping up every long ball and giving the Everton forwards no joy in open play.
They also contributed on the other end of the pitch, with Romero scoring Tottenham’s third with a thumping header and Van de Ven setting up his side’s fourth goal after a terrific burst from the edge of Spurs’ box.
Deeny wrote about the Argentine: “Romero got the goal from the corner but he was also a force. He dealt with Everton’s aerial threat every time.”
The former Watford man said about Van de Ven: “He got an assist. Great play and dealt with everything Everton threw at Tottenham, and then that surging run [for Son Heung-min’s second goal] showed his quality.”
Deeny also lavished praise on Son, suggesting that the Tottenham captain is enjoying being the main man at Spurs after Harry Kane’s departure.
The pundit added about the South Korean: “Best player on the pitch by a mile. He started through the middle and moved out to the left, got a couple of goals. He was a constant threat and looks to be enjoying the challenge of being that main man and replacing all the goals from Harry Kane.”

All three players are deserving of their place in the Team of the Week and Yves Bissouma is unlucky to miss out after delivering an outstanding display, which included a fabulous goal.
