They were slammed for their “awful” names that contained unnecessary apostrophes and others even had symbols.
Parents are under fire by Redditors for their unique baby names for their children with apostrophes and symbols (stock image)[/caption]Reddit user DisastrousAnomaly shared the names of the children in a family of eight that were a little too unique.
“Posted in a Facebook group I’m in. Sending thoughts and prayers to these kids because they’re gonna need it,” they wrote in a post.
They reposted a photo of the back of a truck with eight names written to the left of the back window on a car decal.
Although many of the names sounded normal, it was their spelling that was a cause for concern.
The names were posted in the popular group Tragedeigh which is “a given name that has been deliberately misspelled or completely made up to appear more unique than it actually is.”
The first one was “Ay’denn” with an apostrophe in the middle.
The second and third were “Ella’noä” and “Lilly’maë,” which contained both an apostrophe and a diaeresis mark.
In this case, “a diaeresis is a mark placed over a vowel to indicate that the vowel is pronounced in a separate syllable,” according to Miriam-Webster.
The names “Elyah’nor,” “Noèz’lou,” “Log’hann, and “Billy’jane” also have apostrophes.
There were two slightly different additions to the end of “Log’hann” and “Brenn’ley” with two stars next to them.
Other Redditors were confused about the additional details in the kids’ names.
“What’s with the umlauts? And why the apostrophes?? And what do the stars mean?” one inquired.
“Do they actually have stars in their name?”
Miriam-Websiter described an umlaut as a “German thing that alters the pronunciation of a vowel.”
Right under all of the monikers read the phrase “#momlife.”
Several Redditors were blunt about how they felt.
“Why would you involve your kids in your crippling apostrophe addiction?” one asked.
“You are lucky. You had an encounter with the Tragedeigh Final Boss and came out alive,” a Redditor wrote.
They couldn’t help but express sympathy for “those poor kids.”
“People are so fricken selfish and stupid,” they added.
