Police at the Black Rock Station are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the unnatural death of a male patient, whose lifeless body was discovered at the Psychiatric Hospital on Sunday, August 25.
The police responded to the establishment situated on Black Rock Main Road, St Michael, and upon arrival, they found the body of Noel Hoyte, 50 years old, formerly of Brewster’s Land, Whitehall, St Michael, lying on the floor of the A Ward dormitory.
A medical doctor pronounced him dead at the scene.
David Leacock, Director of the Psychiatric Hospital, also issued a formal statement regarding the unnatural death of a male patient. The incident is currently under investigation by the Barbados Police Service, in cooperation with the Hospital’s administration and the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
In his statement, Leacock expressed deep regret over the incident, offering condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. He assured the public that the hospital team is fully cooperating with authorities to uncover the facts surrounding the death.
“The safety and well-being of our patients and staff remain our highest priority,” Leacock emphasized. He also noted that an internal review will be conducted to assess and reinforce protocols and procedures at the facility.
