Arne Slot finally set to seal first Liverpool transfer 86 days after taking over as £30million star undergoes medical
ARNE SLOT is finally set to seal his first transfer as Liverpool manager with a £30million deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili.
New Reds boss Slot took over from Jurgen Klopp a whole 86 days ago.
But he has so far been forced to stick with the German’s old squad for Liverpool’s two Premier League openers.
Slot tweaked his team’s playing style to secure 2-0 wins over Ipswich and Brentford.
Yet a shadow has been hanging over Anfield ever since Liverpool were rejected by Spain Euro winner Martin Zubimendi earlier this month.
However, the Merseysiders are finally set to complete their first deal under Slot.
Valencia goalie Mamardashvili is currently undergoing a medical with Liverpool ahead of a £30m transfer.
The 23-year-old has long been regarded as one of LaLiga’s best young stoppers.
He has just entered his fourth season with Valencia too.
But Mamardashvili truly caught the eye at Euro 2024 as Georgia shocked several nations to reach the last 16.

Liverpool are now waiting to sign off on an initial £25m fee plus £5m in bonuses, with Valencia also bagging a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
However, Alisson’s place as Anfield No1 is safe for the time being.
That’s because Mamardashvili will remain at Valencia on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
The terms of the deal means that Caoimhin Kelleher will remain No2 for this season.
But should Alisson continue at Liverpool in the 2025/26 season, the Irishman could find himself frozen out by Mamardashvili’s arrival next summer.
