Bowers & Wilkins has introduced two new true wireless earbuds to its portfolio, the Pi6 and Pi8. Featuring completely revised engineering, the two new earbuds utilize Qualcomm wireless transmission technology, noise cancellation, and are designed to be the company’s most comfortable earbuds.
The new Pi6 aims to deliver comfort and performance at a more affordable pricepoint. Coming in at $249, Bowers & Wilkins says that the Pi6’s sound quality is comparable to the Pi7 S2, the flagship model of the company’s older range of earbuds. The Pi6 features the latest Bluetooth 5.4 specification, providing multipoint support for two devices, as well as aptX Adaptive wireless transmission at 24-bit/96kHz. The new earbuds use all-new 12mm bio-cellulose drive units derived from the cones used in the Px7 S2e over-ear headphones. The Pi6 will be available in Storm Grey, Cloud Grey, Forest Green, and Glacier Blue finishes.
The Pi8 is Bowers & Wilkins new flagship earbud, featuring all-new 12mm drive units feature proprietary Carbon Cone technology, the same utilized in the Px8 over-ear headphones. The Pi8 adds support for both aptX Adaptive at 24-bit/96kHz and aptX Lossless, and features dedicated DSP, DAC, and amplification from ADI. The Pi8 is available in Anthracite Black, Dove White, Jade Green, and Midnight Blue finishes.
Both earbuds are IP54-rated, and feature a design that was crafted from a Bowers & Wilkins research project into the variation in human ear form across both gender and ethnicity, with the goal to provide maximum comfort and noise cancellation for the broadest range of listeners. Both models feature multipoint Bluetooth pairing, slimmer charging cases, and better battery life than their predecessors. The Pi6 delivers 8 hours of listening per charge, with the charging case supporting up to 16 hours of further use. The Pi8 offers 6.5 hours per charge, with a further 13.5 hours from the charging case.
The Pi8 is available now from the Bowers & Wilkins website and selected retailers priced at $399. The Pi6 will be available from early September at the Bowers & Wilkins website and selected retailers priced at $249.
