Kei Kawakami was named Most Valuable Player of the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2024. The Japanese shortstop posted a .414 batting average with seven RBIs and nine runs scored. Italy, Japan, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Colombia were represented at least with a player in the All-World Team.
Kawakami had 12 hits in the tournament, third in the tournament, with one double, two triples, seven RBIs and two walks. He also stole one base. He was also named the Best Defensive Player of the tournament.
