Chelsea are considering a late move for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho before the transfer deadline on Friday, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
Sancho has been regularly linked with a move away from Old Trafford. He travelled with the team to the South Coast on Saturday, but was left out of the matchday squad to face Brighton & Hove Albion.
It is now reported that the Blues are lining up a late swoop for the England international. There is a possibility that a player could be used as a makeweight to sign the former Borussia Dortmund attacker.
United prefer the permanent sale of the 24-year-old, but a loan deal has not been ruled out.
Sancho fell out-of-favour under manager Erik ten Hag in September last year after criticising the Dutchman in a public statement after the Arsenal game.
He was subsequently suspended by the Red Devils until January when he was allowed to rejoin Dortmund on a short-term loan until the end of the 2023/24 season.
The forward had a good stint on his return to Germany, but Dortmund were not convinced to re-sign him, considering his huge weekly wages at Old Trafford.
United are eyeing around £40 million for Sancho’s exit, but they could receive much less, suppose Chelsea offer a first-team star as a makeweight for the transfer.
For a permanent switch, the Red Devils may need to hand a possible pay-off to Sancho in order to accept a reduction on his basic £250,000 per week wages at Chelsea.
United have to part ways with Sancho as it clearly appears that he is not in the plans of Ten Hag.
