Naomi Osaka made a pre-US Open 2024 appearance at Tag Heuer 5th Avenue boutique on Aug. 22 in New York.
Osaka is not only a four-time Grand Slam champion, two-time winner of the US Open in 2018 and 2020 and winner of the 2019 and 2021 editions of the Australian Open, she is also a Tag Heuer brand ambassador.
For the event, the athlete donned a pair of platform sandals, closing out the summer season with a stellar footwear choice. The tennis star’s pick featured black cloth uppers and tan sturdy cork platform soles. The cloth straps sat overtop Osaka’s toes and around her ankles, knotted in place.
Rounded open toes gave way to wedge heels, further cementing those summer vibes. Similar sandal styles to Osaka’s own can be purchased from a variety of brands including Raye, Schutz, Chloe, Aldo, Asos and Steve Madden, among others.
The sandal silhouette imparted a beachy touch to the highly decorated athlete’s look, making for a casual but put-together moment. Osaka’s look proves that whether beach-bound or set to walk a red carpet, sandal heels can take you far.
Accompanying her sandals, Osaka sported a black blouse featuring voluminous sleeves paired with a gradient maxi skirt in shades of white, yellow and green. The skirt included a slit up the side, further diversifying the ombre silhouette.
When it comes to footwear, Osaka’s shoe choices are often minimal and sleek. On the red carpet, the Grand Slam-winning athlete often wears ankle-strapped or lace-up pumps, sandals and platform heels in a wide variety of neutral and tonal colors, hailing from brands including Giuseppe Zanotti.
For athletic occasions, Osaka can regularly be seen wearing colorful Nike sneakers, given her longtime partnership with the brand; she’s even designed custom sneakers for competitive matches and launched her own NikeCourt Air Zoom GP Turbo Naomi Osaka sneaker in 2021.
