With high pressure in the area temperatures will remain on the hot side. Highs will reach the mid-90s later this afternoon. As humidity steadily returns, heat index values will creep up each day as well. We've enjoyed lower heat indices, but heat index values will return to the triple digits through the next few afternoons.
With an upper-level low moving to our south today, scattered storms will develop across the region, especially along and south of I-10. Rain coverage today and tomorrow will be about 30%.
Rain chances could increase by mid-week as atmospheric moisture increases and high pressure temporarily moves off to the northeast. Meanwhile, multiple tropical waves will move across the Gulf, along the southern end of this high pressure, creating atmospheric lift and producing storms. Rain coverage may increase to 40-50% Wednesday and Thursday.
TROPICS
The tropics remain generally quiet with no tropical development expected through the next few days.
