West Valley College is offering free classes for older adults through its new Senior Guided Pathways program.
Older adults can take credited and noncredited courses, with access to free transportation to the Saratoga campus and technical support provided by Successful Aging Solutions & Community Consulting.
“By breaking down barriers to access and providing comprehensive career support, Senior Guided Pathways is making it easier for local adults to access community programs, enabling them to secure better jobs and enhance their quality of life,” Tylor Taylor, the consulting firm’s CEO, said in a release.

The Saratoga High School band of 1974, which traveled to Austria that year for an international music competition, is reuniting on Sept. 28 in Wildwood Park in Saratoga.
The reunion will take place from noon to 3 p.m., with no RSVP necessary. Attendees are invited to bring their own food, event organizer Ron Johnson said. The group will be sharing the space with the Saratoga High School class of 1974, which will also be holding its 50th reunion.

Legislation that would allow students who live in West Valley College’s service area to receive an automatic tuition waiver was recently approved by the state legislature.
The bill, introduced by state Assemblymember Marc Berman, helps to streamline the West Valley-Mission Community College District’s existing tuition waiver. The bill now needs Gov. Gavin Newsom’s signature.
“Today’s bipartisan vote for AB 3158 is a huge win for all students of the West Valley-Mission Community College District, bringing us just one step away from free tuition for all,” Berman said in a release.
