PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A few days ago, a Reddit poster asked for a witness to attend their wedding at the Portland courthouse in order to make it legal. Hundreds of people commented in reply and on Saturday dozens of "witnesses" showed up to support the couple, Kenzie and Tyler.
"It's kind of funny," Tyler explained to KOIN 6 News. "We couldn't get our buddy ordained for the wedding and we didn't want some stranger up there with us, so we thought we would do it private on the side, as quiet as possible. I didn't have the heart to tell her that this post kind of blew up."
One of the attendees, Priya Dittrich, said she thought the post was "absolutely hilarious. I think that this would be a great way to have a wedding. Honestly I could do this as a wedding someday."
Tyler and Kenzie have a full wedding ceremony planned for October -- and may include some of their new friends as well.
