Tottenham Hotspur have just picked up their first win of the season with a convincing 4-0 demolition of Everton, but Ange Postecoglou has suggested there is still work to be done in the transfer market before their next game.
Postecoglou handed a first start to his latest signing, Wilson Odobert this afternoon, with the young Frenchman impressing against Everton. Meanwhile, fellow new boys Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall gained more minutes as second-half substitutes.
Big-money signing Dominic Solanke, however, had to watch on from the stands, after picking up an ankle injury on his debut against Leicester on Monday.
We may yet see more new faces arrive at Spurs before the transfer window shuts, though, and it seems highly likely more players will leave, too.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Postecoglou was asked about the transfer market and what might happen at Spurs in the final week, and he hinted there are outgoings and potential incomings still to happen.
He said: “I think we have spent wisely. The players we have brought in are going to be fantastic for this club. We will see [about more deals]. There are still a couple of players we will look to move on. We’ll stay alert.”
Spurs have already cleared their books substantially this summer, with the likes of Ryan Sessegnon, Tanguy Ndombele, and Japhet Tanganga being released. Meanwhile, Oliver Skipp, Joe Rodon, and Troy Parrott have all brought in transfer fees for the Lilywhites.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Bryan Gil have left on loan and have likely played their last game for Spurs.
The only players left to move on now are Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, and Manor Solomon. The latter is expected to join Championship side Leeds United on loan (Paul O’Keefe).

It’s no secret that we want to get rid of those three players mentioned above. It is a lot less clear if we will be signing anyone else at this stage, but I get the feeling we have someone in mind and are just waiting to see if we can get the right deal arranged.
