The government “is investing in villages’ development”, Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou said.
Speaking at the annual dance party in the Limassol district village of Dora on Friday night, he said the government “welcomes and encourages any event organised by local communities which promotes the special characteristics of our region and brings local people together.
“The government invests in villages’ development in the context of the broader strategy to support the countryside and mountainous areas,” he added, pointing out the government’s mountain community development strategy.
To this end, he said the village of Dora “is included” in plans regarding housing in mountainous areas and extremely small remote communities and added that the plans’ latest iteration will cause more families to “show interest” and thus “contribute to the area’s development”.
He also said that Dora’s “rich history, religious tradition, sights, and excellent quality viticultural products” attract visitors from both Cyprus and abroad, while saying that government projects to boost the area’s infrastructure have also “contributed to its rapid development”.
