Mikel Arteta has urged fans not to worry about his future as his current contract is set to expire at the end of this season.
Despite some concerns about the Spaniard’s ability after replacing Unai Emery in 2018, Arteta has quickly established himself as one of the best managers in the Premier League and the world.
Although a lot of the Arsenal fanbase is focused on potential incoming transfers that could help bolster their squad, attention is slowly being drawn to the future of their manager and the very real possibility of potentially losing him over the next year.
But speaking in his press conference on Friday afternoon, Arteta stated that fans should not ‘panic’ over his future at the club.
“I don’t think anybody has to panic,” he said via the Standard.
“I am in the place where I want to be and am really happy – hopefully the club thinks the same thing. And the players I work with, who in my opinion are the most important ones.”
The Spanish manager’s contract will expire at the end of this campaign and after previous rumours that he could return to Barcelona, Gunners fans will be delighted to hear his reassurance.
After an impressive win at the Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the Premier League season against Aston Villa, Arteta must now face the incredibly difficult task of finding a way to beat Aston Villa away from home.
Unai Emery’s side did the double against the North London club last season and arguably stopped Arsenal from winning the title.
With such a difficult test so early on in the campaign, Saturday’s clash will be an excellent way to gauge Arsenal’s title hopes and whether or not they need to splurge in the market.
